Global Talent Search - Thinking about terrariums

I turned in my entry for Lilla Rogers Global Talent Search last night...I had a hard time deciding between two of the paintings I had done...We had two weeks to work on it and I did about five paintings. Here are parts from the one I didn't submit. I'll show the one I entered on August 26.

It was a fun project. I had a blast painting...I used mostly gouache and watercolor with some pen and ink thrown in.

I am starting to add color to these pen and ink drawings. The colors on the top one were inspired by a beaded bowl I bought in Mexico.

I'm back into the practice of making a drawing a day as a way to expand my illustration portfolio and to get into the practice of picking up pen and paper. Here is today's drawing.

Doodling

I've discovered Doodler's Anonymous which is a good 12 step program for me since I've discovered Zentangles and Zendoodling. It's always good to spend more time in my sketchbook than in front of a computer screen and I love the look of black ink on good paper. Here are a few recent entries from my sketchbook:

Zentangle aka advanced doodling

My new discovery is Zentangle or Zendoodling as some call it. It was invented by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas and it's really easy to pick up. You create cool patterns by using repetition and line. It is also really easy to get addicted too! But sort of a healthier addiction because it's art. My problem is once I start I don't want to stop...or go to bed. I was going through some old files and decided to post some older work for you to see. I used to do a lot more illustration and I miss it. I'm going to start drawing and painting more...I have the time now.
