Glorious August in Seattle

Late summer is my favorite time of year in the Pacific Northwest. The days are gloriously sunny and the nights cool and full of stars. Farmers markets are bursting with colorful dahlias, fresh basil, blackberries and other local foods. There is a sense of urgency...the end of summer is coming and I'm trying to take in as much as I can to store up for the long winter ahead.....

Dahlias and Photoshop experiment

I went to Volunteer Park last week on a sunny afternoon. I visited one of my favorite places there, the Dahlia garden and I took some pictures. When I got home and looked at them they were very pretty, but just pictures of flowers... I decided to play with blurring them and pushing the colors around in Photoshop. Here are the results of my experiments. Dahlias are my favorite flower....

Dahlias in the Market

Wandering with out too much of a plan is a good way to spend the day. I needed an artist date so I took the Water Taxi from West Seattle to Pier 55 downtown. $3.00 each way, it's a great deal. The sun was shining and I wasn't sure where I was going, exactly, but I knew I would buy some dahlias at the Pike Place Market. I ended up going to the Seattle Art Museum, the bubblegum wall in Post Alley, and had a blast in flower heaven at the market. Most of all I wandered on a perfect August day.
