Valentine's Day and updates

Well so much for writing every day here. How about once every month and a half? I've been busy preparing for Printsource in April, creating new textile designs and some marketing materials for the The NW Textile Designer's Guild who I will be showing with.

I did have time to do a felt Valentine so it's show and tell time. What are you making for Valentine's Day?

Haute trash fashion show

Went to the ninth annual Haute Trash fashion show on Saturday night. All the fashions were made from recycled materials...mostly plastic. The models and clothes were fabulous and the message was timely....re-use, recycle and don't buy plastic packaging! Plastic is forever.

Felt Inspiration - Fashioning Felt

I'm so sad I missed this exhibit at the Cooper-Hewitt. It showcased the amazing work being made by artists using felt. One of my favorite installations is by Janice Arnold of who makes felt right here in Washington in Centralia. I want to meet her and study felt-making. Check out this video of the process: http://blog.cooperhewitt.org/2009/04/13/video-making-of-the-palace-yurt
